Homecoming Walk
Direct Contribution Campaign
The Direct Contribution Campaign (DCC) began in 2008. Parents had previously expressed that they were tired of student-driven fundraising - meaning door-to-door selling of pizzas, wrapping paper, candy bars, or other items. PME and the PTO decided to eliminate student-driven fundraising. In order to replace that yearly income, the PTO asks for a monetary donation from each family each school year.
In the fall of 2012, PME started hosting a Homecoming Walk to coincide with the DCC. This gave teachers and students a chance to participate in raising money for our school and added some fun to our Campaign. Students are given the opportunity to ask family and friends to sponsor them for their walk on the Friday of Homecoming Week. We have suggested $20 per child, but every donation helps!
It is understood that while some families may be able to give more, others may not be able to give the suggested amount. Regardless of the amount donated, the PTO's goal is to increase the percentage of PME families who participate in the DCC to 100%. Last year we had 93% of families who participated! Please do what you can to support PME and its students - even a few dollars can make a significant difference if all families participate!

How to Give
A Sponsor Envelope is sent home with all PME students on the Friday before Homecoming Week. On this envelope is an explanation of the Direct Contribution Campaign (DCC) and our Homecoming Walk. These Sponsor Envelopes help us to raise money for PME! All donations should be placed in these envelopes and sent to PME with your student.
Please consider asking grandparents, neighbors, friends, or other supporters of your child/ren if they might be interested in giving to the DCC by sponsoring your child! While the PTO is requesting donations on or before the Friday of Homecoming Week, donations are welcome anytime.
